Moody Graham
Identity for a landscape architect partnership
Brand Identity, Print
Designed at Ashton Design

Moody Graham is a Washington DC-based design firm focused on landscape architecture, garden design, and ecological planning. The firm was formed by the partnership of its two principals, Ryan Moody and Jay Graham. The new identity was incorporated for the launch of the studio.
Michael Ponton, Design
Jenny Hoffman, Creative Direction

To represent the partnership of the two architects, a monogram was created using the firm's initials. After exploring many variations, the result feels architectural yet organic — perfectly suited for the landscape duo.

The form and color of the monogram pull inspiration from chop signatures of East Asia and Zen gardens, which serve as a source of inspiration for the firm’s work.

The elements of the brand follow a simple three-column layout. This rule of thirds principle is inspired by the technique commonly used in landscape photography.

Collateral materials were printed using letterpress to elicit the tactile and hand-crafted nature of Moody Graham’s landscape services.
